Breaking Ground on Smarter Preconstruction
By Benjamin Sack
Every great building begins with a plan. Yet, preconstruction – the phase where billions of dollars are won or lost before ground is ever broken – is still stitched together with spreadsheets, siloed tools, and gut feelings. Walk into most preconstruction offices today and you’ll see the same scene: disconnected point solutions and endless meetings to reconcile conflicting numbers. It’s a system designed for rework, not results.
This approach is no longer sustainable, and preconstruction has reached a tipping point. Owners are demanding transparency. Skilled talent is in short supply. And collaborative delivery is becoming the standard. That’s why I’m thrilled to share that 53 Stations led ConCntric’s $10 million Series A, announced today.
ConCntric is giving preconstruction the structure and discipline it has always needed, powered by technology that streamlines workflows and AI that multiplies team capacity. The company is building the first true operating system for preconstruction: one platform that unifies dozens of early-phase workflows. By digitizing and unifying the fractured preconstruction process into a single source of truth, ConCntric enables faster, smarter decisions and increases the odds of project success for everyone involved.
Contractors like Consigli, Big-D, Berglund, and Satterfield & Pontikes are already using ConCntric to increase win rates, tighten coordination, and sharpen cost visibility. And with Amplify, ConCntric’s AI agent, the platform doesn’t just surface insights; it takes action. Amplify flags risks, adjusts budgets, parses unstructured data, and even completes routine tasks. At a moment when the industry faces a talent shortage, Amplify allows teams to scale without adding headcount.
The Builder Behind the Platform
The best platforms come from lived pain. Steve Dell’Orto, ConCntric’s founder and CEO, spent 26 years at Clark Construction, scaling the West Coast Division from $300M to $2B while growing margins meaningfully. He felt firsthand how fragmented tools hamstrung teams and eroded profitability.
ConCntric is the product of that frustration and insight, a platform approach instead of yet another point solution. By consolidating dozens of workflows into one ecosystem, Steve and his team are giving preconstruction the clarity it has always lacked.
With this new funding, ConCntric will accelerate its product roadmap, scale Amplify across structured and unstructured data, and expand sales, engineering, and customer success to meet the growing demand already evident in the pipeline. The market is massive, with design-build set to account for nearly half of all construction by 2026.
At 53 Stations, we’ve seen firsthand how the built world is transformed by technology that reduces friction and unlocks scale. With deep experience across construction (Lithko, STV), hospitality (Hyatt), and real estate (Grubb Properties), we’re confident ConCntric is building the platform that will define the category, and Jason Pritzker, our Managing Partner, will be joining the Board to help guide that journey.
“Across the companies I’ve been fortunate to help guide, one constant stands out: successful outcomes hinge on preconstruction,” said Jason. “ConCntric is giving this stage the structure and discipline it has always needed, powered by technology that streamlines workflows and AI that multiplies team capacity.”
This is the kind of change that reshapes an industry from the ground up, and we’re excited to be part of what comes next.
